Orla Clarke

Partner

Orla is a graduate of the University of Wales and has over 10 years’ experience in planning and environmental litigation. Orla has a particular interest in the area of nuisance and trespass actions. Orla has represented community groups and individuals in relation to issues concerning noise, odour, dust and negative impacts of industrial processes. Over the years Orla has successfully acted incase against waste operators and factories in relation to nuisance has successfully litigated toxic tort cases. Orla also works in the area of judicial review and planning enforcement. She is a member of the Irish Environmental Law Association.

Aoife O’Connell

Partner

Aoife is a graduate of University College Dublin and has a Masters Degree in European Law, with has over 15 years general litigation experience. Aoife specialises in planning and environmental law.  Aoife represents Environmental NGO’s, individuals, community groups and small to medium sized businesses in the area of judicial review and planning procedures, compliance and enforcement. Aoife has a particular interest in the application of the Habitats Directive and EIA Directive in Irish planning law and decision making and has taken many judicial review cases in relation to windfarm developments, landfills and quarries. Aoife has acted for and against quarry and waste operators in relation to both planning compliance and enforcement and is a member of the Irish Environmental Law Association.

Dr Andrew Jackson

Consultant Solicitor

Andrew is a graduate of Oxford University (BA, Law) and Cambridge University (LLM). He also holds an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and a PhD from TCD on EU environmental policy and law.


Andrew is an Assistant Professor of Law at University College Dublin. He previously worked for the international law firm Slaughter and May; for the UK government’s legal service, in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra); and with NGOs Friends of the Irish Environment and An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, where he was Natural Environment Officer and In-house Solicitor.


Having qualified as a solicitor in 2003, Andrew specialises in planning and environmental law and has been involved in cases in this field for many years, including before the Irish, English and EU courts.

Nicola Dodd

Legal Executive

Nicola joined O’Connell & Clarke Solicitors in 2008. Nicola has a wealth of litigation experience, she attends court, manages the weekly judicial review, Strategic Housing Development /Strategic Infrastructure Development and Commercial Court lists and all general case management lists before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
